About NearFinder Postal Codes

NearFinder Postal Codes is a free directory of South African postal codes. It lists the street and PO Box code of more than 15,600 suburbs and localities in 1,100 post towns across all nine provinces, together with their municipality, district and approximate location.

Where our postal codes come from

• South African Post Office (SAPO) postal code list, via DataWookie/saffeR (MIT) and raramuridesign-cc/South-African-Postal-Codes (GPL-3).
• GeoNames (CC-BY 4.0): postal code and town coordinates, town populations.
• dirkstrauss/SouthAfrica (MIT): locality coordinates.
• geoBoundaries (CC-BY 4.0): province, district and municipal boundaries (2016 demarcation).
• Statistics South Africa population estimates, via afrith/sal-population-estimates. Source of the basic data: Stats SA; own processing.

How accurate is the data?

Postal codes change from time to time and new developments may be missing. Many map locations are approximate (the centre of the postal code area rather than the suburb itself). For important deliveries, confirm the code with the South African Post Office or your courier.
